Schoolhouse Lily

Schoolhouse Lily

Schoolhouse Lily

These are photos of a lily that  we planted a few years ago. They came from my husband’s, grandmothers garden. They only bloom  in September and they are best after a rain. The vibrant red color is a surprise after the hot brittle brown of summer.

I know very little about them and they are not common to see. I have seen them in Austin and Bastrop around older homes or where a home used to be. They are my reminder that winter is on the way. They are also called an Oxblood Lily but I prefer Schoolhouse Lily.
